As did the Masters, I prefer to paint on prepared linen canvas. Smaller sizes are typically factory prepped linen canvas, whereas larger sizes are hand-stretched and prepared by me. After selecting either a fine or coarse linen, I size the pieces with acid-free glues and distilled water. Wood stretchers are special-ordered to size and then the linen is stretched over the frames. After gesso applications are cured, the painting process begins. The gesso process, shown above, can take up to 2-1/2 months curing time, depending on humidity and seasonal changes. All edges are painted, so that you have the option to have the piece framed, should you prefer. Importance is greatly placed on customer satisfaction, and the artwork is best viewed in the actual setting, so delivery within and during exhibition areas is offered.
